Often called as the “Cultural capital of Karnataka” the city of Mysore is spread across an area of 128.42 sq km is situated at the base of Chamundi Hills. Derived its name from the word, “Mahishuru” which means the abode of Mahisha, Mysore is also popularly referred as 'City of Palaces', the 'Garden City', the 'Ivory City' and also the ‘City of Yoga’. The city of Mysore is well connected to the rest of the country and thus travelling to Mysore is not a difficult task. If travelling via airways, one can take direct flights to Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. From these cities there are connecting flights for Mysore. Mysore railway station is connected to most of the important cities such as Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, etc. There are various bus services operating as well from various cities to Mysore.
