Formerly known as Kochi, Cochin is one of the prominent port cities of the country. Surrounded by the Western Ghats on the eastern side and the Arabian Sea on the western side, Cochin is also the connecting point to various places around the world. It is also a major International transshipment terminal. In the district of Ernakulam, it is about 220 km away from the capital city Thiruvananthapuram.

The city of Cochin is well connected to the rest of the country and various parts of the world. For reaching Cochin/Kochi, one can take any of the three modes of transportation-roads, railways and airways. The city has international airport with regular flights from all the major parts ofthe country and various international cities. There are three railway station in Cochin namely Ernakulam Junction (main station), Ernakulam Town and Cochin Harbour Terminus.
If travelling via road, you won’t have any problem reaching the city which has three National highways passing through it. These are NH 47 from Kanyakumari to Salem passing through the Kochi, NH 17 to Mumbai and NH 49 to Madurai which starts from Kochi.
