Best and the first planned city of India, Chandigarh offers a good holidaying options. Capital of two states , Punjab and Haryana, the Union Territory of Chandigarh was created by the highly qualified and creative team under Le Corbusier, French architect. having its name derived from Goddess Chandi, the Goddess of Power, Chandigarh mesmerising you with its simplicity and aptness of designs.

As the city has been created recently, you won’t find any historical monuments and historical background. However, in spite of this, the city has various sightseeing options and keeps you engaged throughout your stay.

For sightseeing, the “Open Hand” presents an amazing view. This 85 feet high long monument is located in the Capitol Complex. Sukhna Lake presents a soothing setting for relaxed activities like boating. Rock Garden of Chandigarh is the most popular tourist spot. Built in an area of 12 acres by Nek Chand, the garden is made up from urban waste material. Leisure Valley is the place for those looking for nature. The famous rose garden which is the largest garden of Asia is also in the Leisure Valley.

There are various gardens in the city offering a colourful and refreshing beauty to the city. Some of these are Garden of Tranquillity, Garden of Rare Plants, Garden of Annuals, Bougainvillea Garden, Botanical Garden and Garden of Aromatic Plants. Other places worth visiting are International Dolls Museum, Tower of Shadows, Geometric Hill, Martyr's Memorial, Museum of Evolution of Life, Government Museum and Art Gallery, etc. Thunderzone offers some exciting moments to all its visitors.

For shopping lovers, Sector 17 is the place. Beautified with fountains, sculptures and lush green trees, the area has almost everything to shop for.

Located at a distance of 250 km from Delhi at the foothills of Shivalik Range, one can reach the city without any hassle. The best season to visit Chandigarh is during the months of September to March. Chandigarh has a domestic airport which has regular flights from cities like Delhi. The city has railway station as well that is connected to various parts of country. By road, one can also reach easily. National Highways 21 and 22 runs through the city.
